I am a calligrapher and craftsman based in Washington, DC.

I practice traditional and contemporary Arabic-script calligraphy, and was awarded an Ijazah, or master calligrapher’s license, after 10 years of full-time study.

All my work is hand-written and handmade; I use only traditional materials, many of which I make from scratch in my workshop. I write with a reed or bamboo pen with soot ink on handmade paper, treated with ahar.
